My Story, Part Forty Four

I’m running out of time.

In more ways than one, I’m running out of time. I have one more day of vacation after today, and I’m trying to squeeze in too many things, to make triple workout Thursday, for instance, into quadruple workout Thursday with a run to meet friends afterward, then to hike on Friday for three hours and do a couple hours on the bike and lift weights. And work on code. And clean house.

In many ways, it’s just like life–we’re all running out of time. In one way or another, we’re all dying, or at least running out of time to be able to do a lot of the things we enjoy. For someone like me, the worries include being able to run, being able to ride, being able to see well enough to do those things, and being able to process the toxins in my body well enough to not need dialysis–or a new kidney.

I’m not sure where I’m going with this, but I just thought I’d make this clear–what we already know. Every minute is precious–don’t waste it. Someday I will be running out of time in a way that’s far more permanent than the end of vacation, and I hope by then, I’ll have accomplished everything I’ve set out to do.
