Reinvention

Every so often I try to reinvent myself. That doesn’t mean that I become a different person, just skilled in a different area. A few years ago I decided I wanted to learn how to write computer programs, so I went ahead and did it. I decided not long ago I wanted to try to make some money blogging, so I went ahead and started a blog. And even longer ago, I decided I wanted to be a better athlete and in better health, so I started working out harder and watching what I ate.

All of these processes fell into the “simple but not easy” category. Simple to learn how to program, but not easy because it takes time and requires trying to solve problems in creative yet structured ways. Simple to start a blog, but hard to have the discipline and energy to keep it up.

Simple to work out and eat better–not easy to do it for a long period of time.

Right now I’m trying to reinvent myself again–this time I want to get my weight down further and get into the absolute best shape in my life, as well as lose another size and a half around my waist. I know what I need to do–this is simple–but getting there is another thing–this is not easy.

That’s my current attempt to reinvent myself. Are you trying to reinvent yourself?
