November Rain Makes for a Cool Morning

I had planned for this post to run on Monday the 9th of November, 2009, but for some reason it ended up buried in my draft pile. My apologies for my tardiness.

I ran this morning, a pretty short two miles, before my aborted attempt to attend Sunday service at Kane’ohe Higashi Hongwanji (to give you an idea of just how tough of a few weeks it’s been, I neglected to put down the cancellation of service on my calendar). It’s a bit uphill from my house for the first mile, then a bit downhill coming back. Once I hit the mile mark, I turned around, and about at the mile and a half mark, it happened.

The rain started coming down.

I’ve run in rain before, and I don’t really like it. But today was different. It wasn’t hot, it wasn’t cold, it wasn’t a driving rainstorm–it was kind of pretty. Liquid sunshine.

Fortunately, I only had a little ways more to go, or I may not have thought it was pretty. But for this morning, anyway, it was a magically cool run.
