My Story, Part Eighty One

I was excited not just for myself, but for my buddies. It was great to place in my age/gender group at the SAM’s 5K, but seeing my pace was much more exciting, and seeing how well my buddies did in the same run was even more exciting. Seeing how fast John was–and hearing how he’s getting faster with age–was wild, and watching Brad progress, getting faster and faster on longer and longer runs, was just great. Jan finishing her first race ever was just a thrill, Bev planning out her running schedule including a half and full marathon in the next year, and Erin figuring out that she ran her best per mile time ever was just wild.

These are the reasons I keep running. I don’t care for it, it hurts, and I’m not great at it. But accomplishing my goals, and watching other people accomplish theirs, is just amazing. Team Twitter, let’s keep running. Great Aloha Run for the win!
