What Discipline Really Means

One of the things that comes through my mind regularly is that I have to get my workout for the day or week done–I just have to.

I guess this is called discipline, which I’ve written about before. There’s no difference in my mind between a disciplined and undisciplined workout–it’s just that I get it done when I’m disciplined, and I don’t when I’m not.

Discipline for me means skipping dessert, not ordering the 10 piece Chicken McNuggets and sticking to the Side Salad and inside of a McDouble, throwing out the bread. It means waking up on that cold morning, putting on my gear, and doing a ride. It means icing my knees at night and getting my lunchtime run done whether my training partner is there or not.

All it means is work hard, and don’t stop working hard.
