Stretching Does Too

While not part of the RICE method of dealing with athletic injuries, stretching is an essential part of any athletic repertoire.

And flexibility is one of the great weaknesses of cycling. Doing the same motion over and over and over again without full range of motion is not helpful to flexibility, so stretching is even more important.

Add to that, at least one of us–me–is naturally stiff anyway.

So, like icing a couple of days ago, I have to make time for stretching daily. Fortunately, this is one I like to do in the shower–which also helps with flexibility–which makes me more likely to do it.

Still, for those of us who are naturally stiff, stretching hurts. Which makes it less than fun.

But I’ll do it anyway.
