My Story: Part One Hundred Eighteen

I’m winded, but I’m not giving in. It’s been ridiculously windy during my recent rides, sometimes sending me on very modest hills down under 10 mph on my rides.

The speedometer is sometimes discouraging.

The truth is, I focus on speed too much, in part because I’m not fast–even when I enter races, I’m not much of a racer. As I say many times, the only one I’m racing is me. Yet, there is a certain measurement of improvement by checking that speedometer out, and while I say that my main goals are not injuring myself and finishing, it’s always nice to be at least as fast as I think I can be.

I’m hoping the wind lets up a little.
