Hurting but Healthy

The Metric Century was a real challenge, but I made it through–and I didn’t die. In fact, I was doing well enough to be back in town on the beach in the afternoon at the third annual Hawai’i Geek Meet.

So the verdict is, even if I was a bit sore and if even if I am not quite where I want to be in terms of conditioning, I’m doing perfectly fine.

I said after the ride that it was the best group ride at distance I’ve ever done, and I mean it. I was almost as fast when I did the same ride two years ago but I flatted at the finish (and it was really an -almost-; my guess is I would’ve ended up about five minutes slower). But what was promising is not only did I have a time that met my expectations and I finished faster than I started, I was still passing other riders all the way until the end of the ride.

Now, the focus becomes almost 100% cycling. Livestrong Philly, here I come!
