The 2011 Bob and Ron’s 5K

I’ve realized that since I haven’t given up on running, I really need to put dates (at least years) on these events.

The Bob and Ron’s 5K is the first race in the three race Great Aloha Run Readiness Series. Last year it was a different 5K (the S.A.M.’s 5K) that started it off.

Similar to the event last year, it was a 5K that was basically 1.5 times around Kapi’olani Park, ending at the Honolulu Marathon finish line. This year, however, I’m better trained–and working on speed.

I was hoping to hit a pace of 10:30 on this run. Instead, I crushed that time and finished with an official pace of 9:13; my Garmin said 9:07, which I will use for personal bookkeeping since I use the Garmin’s results for everything.

I’m pretty pleased. And pretty beat.
